Cutleaf Coneflower

Cutleaf Coneflower
Rudbeckia laciniata
While most Rudbeckias are found in prairie type settings, this one can be found in wet areas.  This plant was photographed in a flood plain of Cedar Creek in northeast Indiana.

This plant has a good name in that the leaves are deeply cut.  Notice that the head of the flower is green, giving it another appropriate common name of Green-headed Coneflower.

The leaves are distinctive among the Rudbeckias
This is a tall lanky plant that is more often found in wet places
