American Senna

American Senna
Senna hebecarpa
American Senna is an impressive plant.  It can stand over six feet tall and has flowerheads full of yellow, dainty flowers.  In the fall, the seed pods form and they're even notable.  The plant will stand all winter with the seed pods in place impressing me every season of the year.

I'm not sure of a location in Indiana where it grows natively, but it is common to plant it in restored areas and wildflower gardens.
It is a tall, showy plant

Winter pods
Pods have the typical legume look
