Whorled Rosinweed

Whorled Rosinweed
Silphium trifoliatum
It has been said that Native Americans would use the resinous sap as a chewing gum.  I don't know how they managed to do this, but if anyone has, please let me know.


Whorled Rosinweed leaves tend to be whorled in groups of three (hence the species name of trifoliatum), but not all are like that.
