Queen Anne's Lace

Queen Anne's Lace
Daucus carota
Everyone recognizes Queen Anne's Lace.  Not much to say about it except that it is the exact same species as the carrot!  The same carrot that you eat with your salad.  In fact, another common name of this plant is Wild Carrot (sounds like the name of a veggie bar).

The root looks and smells like a carrot
The plants are mostly found in open areas ... fields, roadsides, etc.

Typical feathery leaf
Some plants have a small dot of maroon colored petals right in the middle. No one knows why.
Another closeup look at the maroon middle
