Catnip

Catnip
Nepeta cataria
Catnip grows wild here and there, particularly in my compost heap.  You can get cats to do weird things if you take a leaf and crush it and rub it on something.  My cats just act strange when I do that.  Each cat has its own personality.  Some will rub all over it.  Some just sniff and go on their way.  Our inside male cat takes over the area and won't let the other cats go near it.

Interestingly enough, the cats don't pay any attention to the growing plants.  I guess there isn't enough of an odor to attract them.

Plants are about 1/2 to 1 meter tall
The opposite, toothed leaves make the cats crazy
