Little Bluestem

Little Bluestem
Schizachyrium scoparium
The best clue for identifying Little Bluestem is by its red stem.  Hmmm ... I wonder who named this one.  Actually, it does have a bluish cast in the springtime.  If I get a picture of some at that time of year, I'll update this post.

Another name for this plant is Beard Grass, an appropriate name if you look at the seedhead up close.
