Swamp Rose

Swamp Rose
Rosa palustris
Swamp Rose is found in swamps, wetlands, lake edges, etc.  If you see a rose plant in the water, it's probably a Swamp Rose.

It's really a pretty plant, although hard to get to sometimes.  The flowers are larger than most rose species and bloom a little later in the season.

These plants were growing along a lake edge. The pictures were taken from a boat dock.

The prickers are in pairs at the base of the leaves and point downwards
